Grasta

From Another Eden Wiki

The Grasta mechanic is introduced in v2.0.100, after the player completes Chapter 48. It allows the player to further customize their units, giving them new (usually passive) abilities.

Overview

With the completion of Chapter 48, the Grasta Board option is introduced in the menu. There, the player can view any equipped Grastas on their characters and equip any currently unused Grastas. At first, each character can only equip one Grasta at a time, and more slots are unlocked at Chapters 50 and 55. Grastas are generally obtained through story progression -- some are dropped by bosses or found in chests. After completion of Chapter 55, the Present Garulea Continent (Another Dungeon) becomes available, where more Grastas and components can be collected. Completion of Chapter 66 unlocks Antiquity Garulea Continent (Another Dungeon) which offers an additional variety of Grastas and components, including support Grastas.

Mechanics[edit]

The Present Garulea Continent costs 2 Green Keys to enter, and operates differently from most other Another Dungeons. The player starts in Izana, an enemy-free map where they can trade in various materials gathered throughout the rest of the Another Dungeon.

In each map, the player gets to choose between two possible destinations, randomly selected from the pool of eight maps. The destination will always be different from your current map, and it is possible to visit the same destination twice in a single run. If the player does revisit a map, its rewards (chests and sparkle points) are refreshed and rerolled. After traversing three maps, the next pair of portals brings them to two of three possible bosses - Ghastly Mizuchi, Karakuri, or Suzaku.

Unlike other Another Dungeons, there is no limit to the number of random encounters each map with enemies can give. However, all mobs here will only drop Grasta Fragments. The chest in the boss room has slight variations depending on which boss you're against. While you can get Crystals and Jadeites of any type from any boss chest, Mizuchi's chest will only give Life Fragments, Karakuri's only gives Attack Fragments, and Suzaku's can give either type.

Junk Areas[edit]

The Vermilion Road, Inanari Plains, and Kunlun Mountains don't contain chests, but instead have four sparkle points. Interacting with these sparkle points yields junk which can be traded in Nagsham for Grastas. One of these sparkle points will also always contain a colored crystal, 20 of which are needed to make a dye in Izana. Once you have 20 of these crystals, you cannot obtain any more from the corresponding map.

The Vermilion Road yields Crystals of Autumn Leaves; Inanari Plains gives Moonlight Fragments; Kunlun Mountains gives Snow-White Ice Stones.

Nagsham[edit]

This is an enemy-free zone where the player can trade Junk for Grastas. There are two merchants in this area. The merchant in the town square gives low-tier Grastas for 5 Junk and medium-tier Grastas for 20 Junk. This is also the only place where you can get "Power of Nothingness" Grastas. The merchant in the inn gives high-tier Grastas or Jadeites for 50 Junk apiece, but has limited stock. He has a total of 40 Grastas (one for each weapon and element combination, including non-elemental), 9 Jadeite of Attack, and one Jadeite of Life, and his trade selection includes three random choices from this pool. The merchants' stock refresh on each visit to Nagsham.

If the player is forced to abandon their run, any Junk they expended in trade will not be refunded.

There is also a rest point where the party can replenish their HP and MP. However, the inn does not provide any food after resting.

Cat Shrine[edit]

This zone is also enemy-free but also has a low appearance rate. The only thing to do here is to collect a Cat Ema for 100 Git. This Cat Ema can be traded in Izana for rare Grastas.

Izana Trading[edit]

The house up front is host to three unique armors. However, to unlock the door that houses each, you must collect 20 of any one dye crystal to make the right dye. Moonlight Fragments make the Colors of the Moon dye which unlocks the Akatsuki Bracelet. Crystals of Autumn Leaves make the Colors of the Fall Leaves dye for the Brown Leaf Necklace. Snow-White Ice Stones make Colors of the Snow which unlocks the Silver Snow Ring.

There is also a girl and man on the pier who want to trade for Cat Emas. The girl gives Grastas that increase the user's crit rate, while the man issues Grastas that increase damage at max HP. When all iterations of their Grastas have been collected, they will send you to the old man in the house, who will have last 2 unique Grastas to trade - Grasta that enables spells to crit for Staff users, and Grasta that improves Hammer users' healing skills. He will first offer the magic crit Grasta in exchange for two Emas, and then trade the hammer healing Grasta for three. Once all NPCs' grasta rewards are all exhausted, the Cat Hokora in Izana will be activated, allowing you to exchange a Cat Ema for a Jadeite of Attack.

Mechanics[edit]

Antiquity Garulea Continent costs 2 Green Keys to enter, and operates differently from most other Another Dungeons. The player starts in Gadaro, an enemy-free map where they can trade in various materials gathered throughout the rest of the Another Dungeon.

After traversing three maps, the next pair of portals brings them to two of three possible bosses - Sacred Beast, King Tsuchino-Bunmei, or Big Gonjuro.

Unlike other Another Dungeons, there is no limit to the number of random encounters each map with enemies can give. However, all mobs here will only drop Grasta Fragments. The chest in the boss room has slight variations depending on which boss you're against. The chest will give Fragments, Crystals, or rarely a Jadeite of the specific type. Sacred Beast's chest will give Support pieces, Big Gonjuro's gives Attack pieces, and King Tsuchino-Bunmei's give Life pieces.

Monster Femur Areas[edit]

The Hokishi Forest, Talgana Mountain Trail, Kuruchi Cove don't contain chests, but instead have four sparkle points. Interacting with these sparkle points yields Monster Femurs which can be traded in Zami for Grastas. One of these sparkle points will also always contain a colored fragment, 20 of which are needed to make a paint in Gadaro. Once you have 20 of these fragments, you cannot obtain any more from the corresponding map.

The Hokishi Forest gives Ancient Forest's Fragments; Talgana Mountain Trail gives Mountaintop's Fragments; Kuruchi Cove gives Whirling Tides' Fragments.

Zami[edit]

This is an enemy-free zone where the player can trade Monster Femurs for Grastas. There are two merchants in this area. The merchant in the center (Recycling Shop) gives low-tier debuff resistance/continuous regen Grastas for 5 Monster Femurs and medium-tier Pain/Poison damage buff or debuff resistance Grastas for 20 Monster Femurs.

The merchant in the inn (Straw Dummy Fan) gives high-tier Grastas or Jadeites for 50 Monster Femurs apiece, but has limited stock. He has a total of 50 items, and his trade selection includes three random choices from this pool. These include HP Recovery/MP Recovery Grastas for the remaining weapon types not obtained in the story (13 total), Grastas that teach an elemental AOE attack skill for each weapon type (32 total), or Jadeite (3 Support, 1 Life, 1 Attack).

If the player visits Zami twice in a single run, the merchants' Grasta selection will be different. If the player is forced to abandon their run, any Bones they expended in trade will not be refunded.

There is also a rest point in the Inn where the party can replenish their HP and MP. However, the inn does not provide any food after resting.

Dogu's Domain[edit]

This zone is also enemy-free but also has a low appearance rate. The only thing to do here is to collect a Superior Dogu for 100 Git (the first one is free). This Superior Dogu can be traded in Gadaro for rare Grastas.

Gadaro Trading[edit]

Dye Fragments[edit]

The path to the far right is where three carved out hollows. You must collect 20 of any one dye fragment to trade to the Craftsman betwen the portals for the wall painting to fill the given hollow. Doing so will award the player with a unique armor. Ancient Forest's Fragments make the Forest Wall-painting which unlocks the Jungle Bracelet. Mountaintop's Fragments make the Mountain Wall-painting for the Apex Necklace. Whirling Tides' Fragments make Sea Wall-painting which unlocks the Helix Ring.

Superior Dogu[edit]

Your Superior Dogu can be exchanged with the Young Man near the portals and the Girl in the house for high-tier Grastas that teach a new skill to the character equipping them. These skills will appear as part of the character's skill list and you will need to dedicate a skill slot for it to be usable in combat. Like with most other high-tier Grastas, they are weapon-restricted; the Staff variant will be offered first, followed by Sword, and so on until the stock is exhausted with the Hammer variant. The Young Man's Grastas use Support pieces and bestow a buff skill that affects everyone in the party using the matching weapon. The Girl's Grastas use Life pieces and give a healing skill that restores 50% of the user's max HP.

After you acquire all 16 unique Grastas from the above two NPCs, the Elderly Woman will trade Jadeites for any subsequent Superior Dogu you acquire. She will offer Jadeites in a cycle of Attack, Life, Support.

Mechanics[edit]

The Future Garulea Continent costs 2x 564000001.png to enter and operates differently than the other two Garulea Another Dungeons.

Angal Settlement & Wasteland[edit]

The player always starts in this enemy-free zone where they can trade their collected items. On the very first run, a few NPCs are still setting up shop, and thus some items are inaccessible until the second run onwards.

The Cat Hokora can be used to either induce weaknesses in enemies in upcoming areas, or for quick travel between points of interest.

Within Angal, various items can be purchased for Altered Ore. These range from items that ease travel throughout certain areas, extra copies of Dormant Ore or Reversion Ore, Jadeites of your choice, or specialized Grasta Ores. The specialized Grasta Ores each cost 180 565000054.png  or one Spirit Stone Fragment should you have one.

The lone exit on the left side of the map leads into the Wasteland, but the player can freely travel back and forth between the Wasteland and Angal. The sparkle points at the Wasteland yield 1-2 565000054.png  each. Defeating Horrors in this Another Dungeon will also yield 1-2 565000054.png  in addition to the usual drop. Every 4 runs you'll also find a Beast Boy near the entrance of the Wasteland, marked with a "!", who hands you a free Reversion Ore.

The left exit of the Wasteland leads to the Contaminated Pit, the only dungeon area available from the start.

Cat Shrine Remnants[edit]

Accessed from the upper part of the Wasteland, with an estimated appearance rate of 10%. Visiting the Remnants and offering your prayer gives a Spirit Stone Fragment that can be traded to the Elderly Beastman for three unique armors or other merchants for Jadeites or rare Grasta Ores. When it's raining in Angal and the Wasteland, the Cat Shrine Remnants is available to visit.

Sky Fortress Eeza[edit]

At Angal, you can purchase a Small Bomb for 13 565000054.png . Give it to the beastman in the upper-right corner of Angal, and he'll use it to clear a path for an airship. On your next visit, speak to the beastman for air transport, which can lead you to Eeza or Gulfagin.

Eeza is another trade hub, and you can freely travel between it and Angal. In addition to merchants offering more variants of Grasta Ores and other useful dungeon items, one weaponsmith will reforge one of the unique items you might have found in the other dungeon areas into one of the weapons from the Marine Weapons Set. This process costs 40 565000054.png  in addition to the key material you've found.

While you can only access Gulfagin from Eeza, if you purchase the ID Card for 13 565000054.png  and hand it to the man in the lower-right corner of the map, from the subsequent run you will gain access to KMS Eastern Branch.

On a run after you've completed KMS Eastern Branch, a new NPC will spawn in Eeza who hands you a free Live Concert Ticket that gives you access to Satellite Stadium via the airship. From that point on, speak to that man to purchase more tickets at a price of 30 565000054.png  each.

Dungeon Areas[edit]

Encompasses the Contaminated Pit, Prison Ship Gulfagin, KMS Eastern Branch, and Satellite Stadium. Once you've entered one of them, you cannot turn back and must proceed forward to the boss fight to end the Another Dungeon run. Each map has 4 chests that will only contain Grasta pieces, though the boss room chest has a chance of yielding Jadeites. While most barricades serve as shortcuts when broken open, there is always one barricade that guards a purple sparkle, which is a key item needed for crafting one of the Marine Weapons.

The Satellite Stadium is a lot shorter, consisting of a linear passage and chests that yield a lot more Grasta pieces than the others, to compensate for the fact that you need 30 565000054.png  to get the ticket to access it. The Satellite Stadium boss room is highly likely to give Jadeites, Scrolls, and even Chant Scripts.

Grasta Mechanics

At first, a Grasta has no ability, and cannot be equipped. To enable the effects of a Grasta, the player must visit a Cat Hokora, which can be found all across the present-era Garulea Continent. There are three functions at a Cat Hokora: Bind, Separate, and Rescind.

Bind[edit]

The main means of unlocking Grastas' abilities. You must invest Grasta pieces and Git to upgrade the Grasta. There are two levels of a Grasta upgrade -- Activation and Awakening. Activation enables the Grasta's stat bonuses and lets you equip it to a character; Awakening enables an additional passive ability. You can Awaken an equipped Grasta without needing to take it off.

There are three types of Grasta pieces for an upgrade -- Fragments, Crystals, and Jadeites. Fragments are commonly found from monsters defeated all across Garulea, including its Another Dungeons. Crystals are commonly obtained from Horrors in the Another Dungeon, or from Separating Awakened mid-tier Grastas. Jadeites are incredibly rare and only obtained as rewards or from trading within the Another Dungeon.

Grastas come in four varieties -- offense, recovery, support, and special. Offense Grastas consume Attack pieces, Recovery Grastas require Life pieces, and Support Grastas use Support pieces. All types can be found from monster drops or in chests scattered around the continent (except Support, which can be obtained only in Past and Future, not Present). Not all Grastas are made equal; some bestow stronger abilities and/or better stats at the cost of requiring more components and Git to upgrade.

Some unique Grastas are obtained in their already-awakened state, so they can be equipped right away for full benefit without needing to expend any resources.

Separate[edit]

You can destroy your unequipped Grasta to recycle them into components. Activated and Awakened Grastas can be destroyed for more components. Unique Grastas, which possess a golden rim, can never be destroyed this way.

Note that the net gain for separating Medium tier grasta is max when you separate Awakened grasta. For Special grasta, instead, is far more efficient to separate their Activated version

Rescind[edit]

Unequip Grastas from a character. Before v2.3.200, you could only rescind all Grastas at once, and this came at a cost of 100,000 Git per Grasta removed. This function is now free, and you can rescind individual Grastas.

The Bonfire[edit]

If you've completed Chapter 55, excess Tomes can be discarded at the bonfire in the Cat Shrine to produce special Grastas that upgrade a character's Valor Chant. They are equipped in the fourth special Grasta slot, which is unlocked after the completion of Chapter 57. Generally, 10 copies of a 5-star Tome or Psalm are needed to make a Valor Chant Grasta. For Another Styles, you need 5 copies of their Treatise. Other 5-star characters who upgrade without using Tomes or Psalms will instead gain three copies of their VC Grasta through other methods, such as hidden quests. Any 4-star Tomes can be recycled for 2 Special Fragments apiece, and you can only acquire Special Crystals by separating activated VC Grastas.

Most Valor Chant Grastas only extend the duration of Valor Chant effects, but certain characters such as Claude (Another Style) gain increased Valor Chant modifiers. The actual effects of the Valor Chant Grasta can be found on the character's individual page and on this page.

True VC Grastas[edit]

After partial completion of Chapter 60 where Altena has joined Aldo and his friends, return to Angal Settlement to trigger a subquest. Head to the Cat Shrine Remnants, and you'll be sent to gather Cat Shrine Charms scattered all across Future Garulea. They appear as white gleaming spots, and each can hold anywhere between 1 to 5 Charms. Once you've collected all 88, return to the Cat Shrine Remnants and speak with Nyanjiro's spirit, and he will rebuild part of the Cat Shrine.

Shrine Sparkles Full.png Shrine Sparkles Full.png
From that point on, you can visit the Cat Shrine Remnants to exchange three unequipped, fully-Awakened copies of a Valor Chant Grasta for a True Valor Chant Grasta. The True Valor Chant Grastas grant an increased stat bonus but retain the same effects as its normal Valor Chant Grastas.

Enhancing Grastas[edit]

Upon starting Chapter 70, you gain the ability to enhance fully awakened Grastas with Nekomasa's assistance. Enhanced Grastas will appear orange, and each Grasta only has capacity for one enhancement. Enhancing an already enhanced Grasta will erase the old enhancement without any refunds - however, if you have Reversion Ores, you can Revert an enhanced Grasta to regain the ore used on it. Valor Chant Grastas cannot be enhanced.

There are two tabs to the Enhance table. The first uses only Dormant Ores which are more common, and the additional ability or ability enhancement you get is dependent on the type of Grasta you're upgrading. The second lets you use specialized Ores to give a specific ability to the Grasta. The effect the Ore will have is stated in its name.

Notes

  • Elemental Grasta bonuses stack additively, while "Power of Pain/Poison" bonuses are multiplicative. More details here.
    • T3 + T2 + T2 elemental Grasta = 30% + 20% + 20% = 70% elemental bonus.
    • T3 element + T2 Pain + T2 Pain Grasta = 1.3 x 1.3 x 1.3 = 2.2x damage = 120% bonus elemental damage on pain-inflicted targets.
